Frequently Asked Questions about Tenant Insurance
Have questions about tenant insurance in Port Coquitlam? Here are some common inquiries. For more detailed information, we recommend speaking with one of our experienced brokers.
Can I Cancel or Transfer my Tenant Insurance when I Move?
Yes, you can cancel your tenant insurance at any time. Please note that there may be fees if you cancel mid-term. Your best option is to transfer your policy to your new property. Doing so will save you time, money, and help build your personal insurance history.
Can I add my roommate to the insurance?
Yes, if you live in a suite where there are no more than 2 to 3 unrelated people, you may be able to add everyone onto one policy.
How much does tenant insurance cost?
Costs varies based on age, insurance history, location, and amount of coverage purchased. Most policies start around $20 a month and increase as more coverage is added. Please click the “Request a Quote” button or contact us to start a quote.
Does my Landlord’s Insurance Cover me?
No, your Landlord’s insurance is meant to protect them and their property. It does not extend to Tenants. As a renter, you are responsible to obtain your own tenant insurance to protect you and your belongings.
I don’t own anything, why do I need Tenant Insurance?
You may not think you own much, but it can quickly add up. If you just consider the cost to replace your clothing, a smart phone, and a TV, that is easily $2,000 or more. Also, if you were to accidentally damage your rental suite (like start a fire) you could be found liable for damages. Having Tenant insurance ensures that your property is protected, and that you have legal protection in the event of accidental property damage or bodily injury.
